What is C2680?

C2680 is a copper-zinc alloy (brass) with a copper ratio of about 65% and zinc about 35%, also known as Cartridge Brass . Thanks to its good ductility, high mechanical strength and good corrosion resistance, C2680 is widely used in industries such as electricity - electronics, automobiles, machinery components, and interior decoration.

However, to ensure product quality and prolong shelf life, proper storage is key.

Main causes of reduced lifespan of C2680

  • Oxidation and corrosion : When exposed to humid environments, air containing high levels of CO₂ or industrial chemicals.
  • Surface scratches : Due to mechanical impact during transportation or storage.
  • Physical and mechanical changes : When exposed to high temperatures or UV rays for a long time.

Effective preservation methods to increase the life of C2680

  1. Store in a cool, dry environment
  • Ideal temperature: 10 – 30°C.
  • Air humidity maintained below 60%.
  • Avoid exposing the C2680 to direct sunlight or high heat sources.
  1. Use anti-rust oil or protective film
  • Before long-term storage, apply a layer of specialized anti-oxidation preservative oil.
  • Anti-rust paper (VCI) can be used to wrap copper coils/foils.
  1. Reasonable storage arrangement
  • Place product on pallet, avoid direct contact with ground or wet floor.
  • Do not stack too high to limit pressure and distortion of materials.
  • Ensure there is a safe distance between rolls/bills to avoid collision during loading and unloading.
  1. Periodic check
  • Check surface condition: color, stains, signs of corrosion.
  • Periodically check the quality every 3-6 months, especially for long-term storage.
